Who would be the audience?
.jpg)
Who would be the target audience of my media product?
Basic Overview of my TA:
My target audience would be predominately a male audience aged between 16-30. I have chosen to aim it towards this audience because this is the main audience that would listen to rap/hip-hop music and endulge in the lifestyle and culture that comes along with it. My target audience would be defined by psychographics and not demographics as it is there attitude towards the lifestyle and not about where they are from as people from all over the world listen to this genre of music. It is likely that my target audience spend a lot of their free time listening to music and using the Internet. They are likely to use the Internet on social networking sites, video sites e.g. YouTube, clothing sites and news sites such as complex. It is likely my target audience spend a lot of their income on either buying music online e.g. iTunes or spending it on clothes instores and online. This ties in well with my magazine as it covers both the music and fashion aspects of the lifestyle.Clothing:
My target audience is likely to buy their clothes from more expensive designer stores that tailor their design to the streetwear style. This is likely to include brands such as Supreme, Hood By Air, Bape and Stussy. These brands offer stand out high quality clothing in which would attract the audience of my magazine as these brands are worn by high end hip-hop stars and this would entice my TA to buy these brands. It is unlikely that my TA will shop at a high street store such as Topman or Primark as these offer mainstream clothing and this culture will prefer to stand out from the crowd and try and make a statement that rap/hip-hop culture is very still much alive.Clothing brands they may like: Supreme,HBA,Bape,Palace,Stussy,Raf,Hilfiger,Ralph Lauren,Nike,APC,Y3,Patta.
Lifestyle:
My target audience is likely to enjoy spending time with their friends, chilling out and listening to music. They are likely to enjoy going out to fast-food restaurants and spending time hanging around town and looking around shops etc. Some of my target audience will enjoy skating and it is likely my TA will spend time skating or around people skating. It is unlikely my TA will enjoy going out clubbing or to pubs as they prefer to be surrounded by people who partake in their own lifestyle and perhaps not with people who prefer a mainstream lifestyle. Also my TA will try to avoid places such as clubs that will not be playing their preferred genre of music (Rap/Hip-Hop) as they don't tend to enjoy the vibes of a place that is playing a mainstream chart type music etc. Some of my TA will prefer to spend their weekends chilling with friends perhaps playing xbox or PlayStation and generally spending a lot of time of the internet. Stereotypically my audience is lazy and won't spend too much time out and about on their feet unless it is to go out with friends or perhaps skating occasionally.Lifestyle related brands: KFC,Mcdonalds,Xbox,Playstation,Apple,Sony,Beats,HMV.
Music:
My target audience will listen to Rap and Hip-Hop music and will usually only enjoy this genre of music. It is very unlikely they will spend much time listening to any another genre of music as Hip-Hop is quite a specific style and sound. It is likely my target audience will have an iPod or mobile in which they will listen to most of their music on on apps such as iTunes or spotify. It is likely that they have a subscription to something like spotify in which makes their music available both on mobile and computer devices. Most of my TA will prefer to have electronic versions of songs instead of a CD version as they can listen to the electronic versions on the go whereas would have to have a stereo or CD player to listen to CD's and this is unlikely as they tend to keep up with new electronics and will have the latest mobile or iPod. My TA will tend to attend as many gigs and festivals as they can especially one's that would contain music artists from the Rap/Hip-Hop genre. They are happy to spend their money on festival tickets and gig tickets to support their favourite artists and enjoy themselves at events like this.Music related brands: iTunes,YouTube,Spotify,Wireless,O2,Apple,Samsung.
